Return, 2026

Return

July 28 to August 21, 2026.

Return marks Christos Damianos’s first solo exhibition in Greece, presented at the Municipal

Gallery of Tripoli “F. Tsihridzis, and signifies a meaningful homecoming to his place of origin.

Living and working between Greece and Canada, Damianos draws from both geographies,

weaving Greek and Canadian cultural elements into a practice shaped by movement, memory,

and identity.

The exhibition explores the experience of diaspora and the layered nature of nostos—the

archetypal homecoming. Through material experimentation, reduced-form abstraction, and

surfaces built like geological strata, Damianos reflects on migration, transformation, and the

cyclical rhythm of departure and return. Each work carries traces of two homelands, suggesting

that returning is never a simple restoration but a changed arrival. Abstraction in Greek is

Αφαίρεση. Literally removal and comes from the verb to subtract, to take away or to eliminate

which references my practice of reducing-form and realism.
